We had chosen Oak Park for my mom. I like their friendly staff. However, my mom passed away shortly after she was in the residence. They provided medical services, they had a doctor on-staff, they monitored her medications, and they helped with bathing and personal hygiene. The facilities were adequate. It was good for the time that my mom was there. It was not too far from a hospital and not too far from a hospice facility, so it was also a good location. The staff was excellent. It could have been a little bit more updated, but it still looked clean and adequate. They had a little bit of activities, but my mom was never involved. It was a good value.

I visited Oak Park Nursing Home. I have a brother-in-law that's in the nursing part of it too. It is very good. The apartments are very nice, there's one-bedrooms, two-bedrooms, whatever you want. I looked at the dining room. In fact, I ate there. I'd say the food is very good. The staff is also good. We've been very pleased with them. It is very clean. They have their own pharmacy.

My aunt will be moving into Oak Park. We chose it because of the location. It's very close and there are several of us that can visit her. We can have window visits from her room and we have dear friends that have lived there for several years, and they were very encouraging. She will have total care. She will have skilled nursing as far as wound care for her pressure sores. The staff was wonderful, very encouraging, very helpful, and very efficient. She's not there yet, and she'll have to go into an isolation room for two weeks before she'll get her actual room. The atmosphere was wonderful. I saw some residents out in the sunshine. It was a beautiful day and they were all very upbeat. It seems like a good place to be. The activities director called and talked with me and asked me what my aunt was interested in. She told me what they offered, but some things are not being offered now.

Oak Park was decent. It wasn't' spectacular, but it wasn't dirty. The rooms were spacious. They had some private and semi-private rooms, but the bathroom space was limited. It seemed like they had a friendly staff. However, I was a little disappointed in the fact that, after they led me to believe that my father would be accepted there with no problem, they turned us down, and I wasn't even given a good reason why. I wasn't really impressed with that.
