My grandmother lives at Rogue Valley Manor and I've spent many weeks there with her. She loves the place-- its a gorgeous campus of small one story houses surrounding a central building which holds smaller apartments and assisted living spaces. Her small house gives her the space and independence she needs, and the ability to entertain and host her visiting family, but with the added benefit of a constant staff maintaining her front yard, emergency phones and call buttons spread across the house, and the security of an enclosed living community. The central building and its free brunches and social activities give her the opportunity to meet new people, and make old friends out of them. The staff is incredibly patient and friendly, and share their guests' enthusiasm when guests come to visit, and their grief when a friend passes on. The reason I love Rogue Valley Manor and trust it with my dear grandmother, is that it has never seemed like a place people go to and wait to die, its a place teeming with life, deep peace, and a warm quietness that wraps itself around me every time I visit.
