My mom went for rehab and skilled nursing at The Fountains at Canterbury for about five or six weeks. Appearance and layout are good. The physical therapy people and doctor are awesome, but the nursing care there sucks at times because there is a lack of attention. Anytime we had a question, they got upset and said we "cared too much." We had some issues throughout the process with the nursing people. The food was pretty good, but they tended to run out of desserts and sometimes didn't have enough food to go around, which surprised me since they know how many people are in there.

Did not have a great experience with my mother there. They were very understaffed. No females aides available to give her a bath. I helped her shower each day. I even had to clean the bathroom since no staff there did. Sheets were only changed when I specifically asked. I can see how patients would just wither away there - very little interaction unless initiated by the patient

My husband was in The Spri GS for 8 days. His care was shameful . The doctor gave him sleeping pills throughout the day which had not been prescribed previously and denied any changes when questioned. My husband was never bathed, never had his teeth brushed or clothes changed except by me. Had to wait 45 minutes to an hour after requesting pain meds.No air-conditioning for two days and only moved to another room after ceiling tiles collapsed on his room. Aides refused to put air mattress on his bed, which was o lu ordered by doctor because I told him to go back and look at my husband again because he was developing a bed sore. He was left in a wheelchair for and hour and a half waiting to be put in his bed and the room they moved him to a dirty room with feces and urine on the toilet and trash on the floor. Director offered me a beer or glass of wine to calm me down when all I wanted was someone to give a flip about my husband. A mattress was stored in his shower and nurse call button was at the foot of his bed one morning and clipped to a pillow on the floor another morng. I have pictures and intend to fight additional charges for supplies they were supposed to let me know about or they would charge me more for them. No one ever told me anything and they refused to use the ones I supplied. Reporting to the Health Department. If you care about your loved one don't put them here. When I asked for a copy of the documents I signed I was told they don't normally hand those out. ASA a legal document that is required.

This community is very nice. I stayed in the Springs and had a very pleasant experience. The staff was excellent in my care. The therapy department was awesome and I definitely recommend Canterbury to everyone needing rehab or long term care services.
