My mother has been a patient in their rehab facility 3 or more times and my grandmother also has been a patient there as well. Additionally, I am an RN, so I know I am familiar with the system. Freedom Village recently (as of 2019) changed ownership. The change very noticeable. I was not aware of the change of ownership, but was remarking to friends how vastly different the care was when my mother was there in late 2019. Nurses seemed short staffed, call lights took a long time to be answered, staff was rushed and the level of care was just not as it was before. And then I found out about the ownership change. I cannot believe the difference that it made. We won't be going back for future needs unless major changes are made.

The staff at Freedom Village completely ignored my mother's pleas to contact her primary physician to double check her dosage of medicine. The dose they gave per the emergency room Doctor at Holland Hospital was 2X her ordinary dose. When my Mom told the nurses at Freedom Village, she was completely disregarded. After a few weeks of being overdosed, she became incoherent and in a near stroke condition! It took 3 days in the hospital to get the excess Tegretol out of her system. This could have been avoided, had Freedom Village simply contacted her doctor. I wouldn't recommend this facility to anyone!

My mother went into Freedom Village Inn for rehab August 2012 for about 18 days. They gave her good food there and the family could also eat with her at cost. She had a room mate and her room mate also did real well after her heart surgery. My mother got physical therapy once a day and physical therapy once a day. They did an excellent job for her. The nurse had time to visit with her at night and told me that she was very intelligent, but her body was just worn out. We ate lunch together and then there was a meeting with all the residents to make sure they were being treated with dignity. If they had any complaints they could tell the supervisor. She had to go to the doctor before she could be released. They took her in their van and I met her there. The aid that came was just a very caring person. I knew she was in good hands there. Before she was released my husband and I went to the meeting and met the staff. They were just the best that I have ever seen.
