American Village might be one I like the least. It is a very old place. People just live in the hallways sitting in their wheelchair. I don't recall any specific different area for memory care. Wherever I walk, it seems like it was all the same thing. There is a small dining hall with really low ceilings. People would be shuffled in for meals and shuffled out, and it is all locked up again. That room is rarely used for anything else except for meals as far as I know. It was really loud. I didn't like how the space was arranged. They just have a curtain between the other person's bed and your bed. I just couldn't see my mom in there at all. For me, I am rating it for what I want for my mom. It may be different for other people for what they want, but for me, it was not good at all. I just felt the staff is constantly talking. It's not a quiet whisper or walk up to somebody and says something, but their voices are too loud. I just think people need open living space so they are not just shoved into hallways, like nice welcoming rooms.

I feel as if the facilities were nicely kept and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. As we took the tour, the lady that I accompanied was very impressed with the way that things looked, but was a little bit dissuaded because of the price of things there (room and board). Other than the price, things looked nice and were very presentable, and the staff didn't make us feel like strangers. We were welcomed as if we were family and treated like potential prospects. The tour of the facility lasted about 45-minutes and afterwards and during the tour, our tourguide (whose name I can't remember) was open to any questions that we had. I am notorious for asking a lot of questions, but this didn't seem to irritate our tour guide at all. The location of the facility was the biggest draw in because it was close to a lot of the sites that my friend had grown up around (located off of a major street and close to many of the historical areas in Broadripple).
