I found Arbor Springs for my husband. It's the only one that would take him. He moved there beginning of November. The food is good, the room is good and nice size. They were doing different activities, they have rides to see the Christmas light, decorating and different things. It's fine for what we need. It's expensive no matter what, but it's well-kept.

This place is getting old and run down. It never use to smell, but now it does . Staff has changed too. There nurse seem to have no clue how to do their job. I felt like there was only one nurse who actually new what she was doing. The cna’s were lazy and sat around. This place has a new administration who has no idea what she is doing. As for the Don, she didn’t even know what certain medication were when I asked. Please think twice before bringing your loved one to this place. This place is way overpriced if you ask me.

We really like Arbor Springs of West Des Moines and the people there. It's such a good experience. Mom always says she likes the food. We haven't had a problem with them at all.

I thought Arbor Springs was excellent because they were more person-to-person, hands on care. I also thought the staff was excellent. It might cost twice as much, but you would get twice as much. If my husband missed a meal and went to the dining room, they would have someone sit with him while he ate. If he missed a meal while going to a doctor and he might get back from the doctor at two and they would bring his meal and someone would sit with them even though I was there. Arbor Springs was set up fabulously and I liked their floor plan. Their neighborhood rooms were named after pods. They had the cottonwoods, the maple, the willow and each of these three names had a living room, activities table, TV, chairs and a big room in the center. Around this room would be 8 or 10 rooms. Two people would always be on the center room and they had an eye on the bedroom doors, which would be opened. I heard them say: "Alice are you needing help". Then they would go to her room and helped then came back. They could see all the room and they all opened to that center room. I thought my husband found it boring because there wasn’t moving people than. But I liked it better because you had your room and your living room. You could go back and forth and you couldn't go to somebody else's room. Each one of those neighborhood rooms had their own kitchen and dining room. The one that he was in had an L-shape dining room and kitchen. But the one that I really liked was the one with a long room with kitchen on one end with a window that you could see on to the eating area and to the carpeted area where the fireplace, TV and sofa were. Each of them had an outdoor looking It wasn't down the hall or around the corner. It was just that room and that's your neighborhood. It was fantastic!
