Some of the nurses at Freedom Pointe at The Villages are awesome. They were wonderful to my dad. Some of the aides though, to me, their attentiveness and care was subpar. I didn't feel that they care to do their job. They were just basically there collecting a paycheck. The food is also just average.
My dad just turned 90 and he's having health issues and I was talking to one of the nurses that I truly commended (because she was very good at her job and attending to the residents and everything) about the food being delivered. I told her that if they know or take attention to some of the resident's capabilities, they should automatically step in and assist in maybe cutting their food. The physician assistant on duty at the facility needs to make notation for the kitchen so they know that the resident needs more grounded up of food so that it's easier for them to eat it. If I didn't happen to be there or friends of my fathers didn't happen to be there at the time he was getting a meal, dinner time especially, they would just plop it down in front of them and it would be like a chicken breast or roast beef. He could feed himself pretty much, but there's no way he could have cut the food up. Other than that, it is a nicer and clean facility. It's very welcoming and is one of the nicer ones in The Villages area.

My mother is at Freedom Pointe Rehabilitation right now, and she'll only be here hopefully for a month. We chose it because it had a five-star rating for rehab. The staff is very good. Everything is very good with top notch, pleasant rooms. You call the nurse, they're here in like 1 minute, and they're very nice to my mother. Physical therapy seems to be good. They can go eat in the dining room if they want to, and they have wheelchairs for them.

My mom has been to Freedom Pointe at The Villages for about a month. It's a really nice facility. It's excellent! The place is immaculate. I couldn't complain at all. She was under Medicare, but now she's pretty much plateaued on to her recovery. They decided that she's not able to go to an assisted living facility. It was a choice between putting her in long-term care facility or bringing her home, and I decided to bring her home.
She's not progressing well and she's still continuing to lose weight. Because of the Medicare guidelines and everything, they wouldn't be able to care for her anymore. So I had to come up with an alternative pretty quick. The facility offered to go over her chart with the home care provider that she have now. They told her what the psychologist, the physical therapist, and the occupational therapist said what she needs to be doing to speed up her recovery. So I decided to bring her home and just get a home care for her.
