Canterbury Towers was outstanding, but they couldn’t take us because they had three acute patients already on their ward. They have to balance the number of acute patients against the staff there so that they can adequately care. The place didn’t smell, it looked great, and the food looked great. It seemed like a professional place. They had activities for people to do, and my overall impression was that, she would have gotten very good care there. They have two sides: a very heavily retirement community and a skilled nursing side.

When I visited Canterbury Towers the first thing I noticed was the view, it was outstanding overlooking Tampa Bay. Also there was plenty of parking for residents, visitors and staff. The facility offers Studio, one bedroom and two bedroom apartments. Each apartment comes with an emergency call button for the residents. Also if the residents need assistance with medications the nurses from the skilled nursing area which is located on the second floor will come to the resident’s apartment and help with medications. There is a huge dinning room for the residents with a view of the bay. The food looked very appetizing and the residents appeared to enjoy it. While visiting the facility I went into the skilled nursing area and noticed that there was no strong odors and everything looked very clean and the residents seemed to be happy. I then went to a few of the apartments and noticed that each apartment had spacious rooms and wonderful views. The facility has many activities each day that the residents can take part in, there is a bus that takes the residents shopping and to appointments and also to movies and outings. In my opinion this would be the perfect place for someone that needs assistance and or skilled care

As an independent caregiver, I have had the experience of working at both Canterbury Towers assisted living residentual apartments and their health center. The facility itself is located directly on Bayshore Boulevard, with 14 floors all overlooking Tampa Bay. The view is beautiful and serene. The facility was originally condominiums and later converted to assisted living residences. In the main towers, both staff and residents seamlessly co-exist in friendly harmony. The Health Center is located in a separate second floor wing. From my observation, the patients receive loving, compassionate care, Interaction with staff is professional and positive.
