We had a disappointing experience at Freedom Village at Bradenton. The outside grounds are beautiful, and most of the nursing are pretty good, but the CNAs were not trained properly. There were just too many things that were going on that were not good for us. It was not a good place for my dad. The food was pretty good, he did not really eat a lot, but it was pretty decent. They have a room for movies, they were doing physical therapy on him, but there were few activities.

I would never put my family member or loved one in the skilled area of Freedom Village. I have been witness to many negligent practices by the staff and their attitudes are horrible. There are a few staff members there that seem to genuinely care but the majority are there just for a paycheck. The nurses are often heard complaining about the work they have to do and and will flat out refuse to do anything except pass the medications. The CNA's are often observed standing around in the hallway while the patient call lights are going off. Both the nurses and CNA's act like it is a major inconvenience when a family member complains or requests something for their loved one. Wound care is a joke and the therapy department acts like they are better than everyone. I have been witness to and reported to AHCA about the way the patients are talked to, like they are children being scolded. A couple of years ago this place was pretty decent and now it seems like any other run of the mill nursing home. AHCA needs to spend a couple weeks there to really see what goes on during day to day operations.
