We live in the mountains and just stopped by while we were in the Denver area. We did not have a reservation, but Donna was very kind to take the time to show us around and give us great information about the community. We are just starting our research on retirement options and were very impressed with the quality of the Holly Creek facility. it will definitely be a consideration in our decision making process.

I had a very short stay at Holly Creek, and it was a nightmare. The bed I was trying to sleep in had plastic on it, so the sheet wouldn't stay on and I slipped off the bed, fell on the floor, and had to redo my surgery all over again. The facility is beautiful; that's why I picked it. I have had extensive surgery with rods from the base of my head all the way down, and they assured me that they were equipped to handle somebody in that situation, and they weren't. They were not equipped for that in any way whatsoever. The facility was lovely and everything was fine, but they had no place for me to sleep that was safe, and no one even instructed me on basic care like brushing your teeth, because you weren't supposed to bend or anything. Nobody explained anything to me about that. I was very unhappy. We even brought my recliner-walker into the facility, so I would have some place to sleep. But, it's lovely. You can eat whenever you like and get whatever you want there. I don't know if it was the staff or just the general way it was run, but I wasn't instructed on the basics that I needed to learn. I was very disappointed. I was only there for four days because after I fell, I had to go back to the hospital and have my surgery all over again. They had to redo my whole back. I had another six-and-a-half-hour surgery to redo it. They had to put all new rods in. I thought it would be perfect, but as far as my care went, it was horrible. I knew more about what I needed than they did. If you have a severe physical disability, I don't think Holly Creek is the place to go.

Holly Creek is well run and it's basically a Christian place. They have facilities that you'd expect a retiree place to have. The people we've talked to are very much approachable and friendly. I am a celiac and I have to have a special food and they provide that.
