I had some great nurses /aides and horrible aides. During the night I would normally lay 2 hours waiting for any help. My nurse call light was broken. I was trapped and no way to get help. One night two people were in my room going through my things. License and insurance card stolen. Staff did nothing to help me.

If I could give a 0 star rating I would. How can the nursing care be so incompetent that they don’t recognize pneumonia, a UTI and an electrolyte imbalance in a patient?! They can’t see that someone who was perfectly lucid is no longer? No doctor, no labs, no sending to ER! A family member had to make them send him to the hospital where he is now being admitted. Disgusting place with the worst care. I will be filing a complaint, and I am sure not the first to do so.

This is a terrible facility. They take 45 minutes to respond to help buzzer, don’t have a clue what the doctor’s are, and dont want to be bothered by the patient. I self discharged because the treatment was so bad.

My friend moved into Knolls West Convalescent Hospital. He liked it and I liked it. The staff seemed very nice, very helpful, and they seemed to be a very caring group. It's very clean, not a lot of clutter, open, and fresh looking.

Knolls West is the absolute worst at providing quality care. My mother went there for rehab after having a stroke. Staff left her in bed unable to move. Nurses/CNA's did not rotate her causing her to get sore from being in bed which made it difficult to do PT. In a matter of a week she declined rather than getting better. During the day while family or visitors are there they act like they are attentive to the patient. However, at night they do not attend to their patients. My mother had thrown up on herself, oxygen had came unplugged, diapers were full, blood sugar would drop low and it would take 40 minutes to an hour after nurse call button was pressed for someone to show up. I could not rest peacefully knowing my mom was in that place. I knew she would be neglected rather than cared for. She could have choked on her throw up, got a UTI, gone in a coma yet they did not find it to be urgent enough to attend to her. I brought my concerns to supervisors and they would reply by saying they would address the issues with their staff, yet nothing improved. If you're looking for a place that will care for your loved ones this is not the place.

Knolls West Convalescent Hospital was nice, our stepdad had a really nice little apartment, and they seem to get him up and out to join in activities so I thought that was pretty good. He ordered ice cream a lot, but he didn't like their dinner. Everybody would say hi to him, he would say hi to them, and the place was kind of cozy. The staff was great, and the place was expensive, but it was nice.

Knolls West was OK, but I didn’t like the person who runs it. Some of her rules and her flaunting around and flirting with all the men that came in and ignoring all the women irritated me a little. If you need something done, I couldn’t get her to do anything for me, but if it was a good looking person, she was all over it, and I didn’t like that attitude, so I left. The rest of them were OK and mingled well with the people. I had a lot of friends, and the food was OK. I lost about 20lbs when I was in there, so it was very good for me.

I would never put my mother in Knolls West Convalescent Hospital. It was dark, dingy, dirty, and the staff was not friendly.

My father has been at Knolls West Post Acute for a month now. It is a very clean facility. It is very clean inside and out. My father was in a hospital, and they recommended it to me. I would give it very high marks due to the very personalized care and attention to details. They're very willing to work with the families. They have gone above and beyond. Overall, it is a very good facility. My father is in a shared room. Food is not the greatest, but only passable.

Appeared to be very clean. The residents appeared to be well cared for. Nice furnishings. Grounds pleasant, filled with flowers. Staff responded to patients needs in a timely manner. According to my friend, the food was OK. I havenot personaly eaten there.

A few years ago my uncle who was in is 40's had a series of strokes which resulted in need of permanent care for him. He was wheelchair bound, and was paralyzed having only the use of his forearms and hands. The hospital which initially treated him recommended Desert Knolls as a good local full time care facility. Someone from our family visited him almost every day of the week. At very worst we were there 4 days a week. The facilities at Knolls West are in some ways nice; the rooms are double occupancy and each occupant has their own area with shelves, a cork board, and their own TV. They have a decent leisure room, and a nice view from the room. On the surface the staff are friendly and curious, but my uncle often said he was treated very different when we weren't around. Sometimes I would notice the staff seemed really impatient with some of the residents whose families were not present. Another thing i noticed was the lack of sanitation. I came to believe it was normal for such places to smell rather strongly of urine and other unpleasant odors, but after about 6 months we transferred my uncle to another full time care facility which was much cleaner. Upon transfer, his new care facility notified us of extensive bedsores, indicating that my uncle was not getting the attention he needed. Overall I would not reccomend this facility, there are much better ones in the area.
