My mother is at the skilled nursing of Garden Crest. They called my sister in New York and took the time to discuss my mother's illness, what happened and what they plan to do. I like that. My mother's room is clean, there's no smell, and they're professional. My mother can talk now, which is unbelievable; it's a miracle. We could ask as many questions as we wanted to, and they didn't talk down to you or anything. As far as my mother is concerned, they knew their business. So far, so good. I haven't heard my mom complain about the food at all. They had chairs, and if not, they would go get a chair and bring it to your room. There was also a TV in her room. I think the food is about average because you have to really watch it. Sometimes they can't take really hot food, or they have dentures or something like that. But they check it out to see if it's suitable, or that the patient can handle it. When you sit on the inside, you can tell that it's been used a great deal, but there's nothing dirty and you don't see or smell urine, that kind of thing.

My mother stayed at Garden Crest. The LPNs and RNs were really good, and the CNAs were pretty good, but a couple of them were kind of abrupt. The doctor showed concern and care, and he was really good. Her room was not 100% clean because she was sharing it with another lady, but overall, they would try to keep it as clean as possible. It could have used a little more cleanliness to do somethinga about the smell.

My aunt had a fall. Garden Crest is in proximity to the hospital that she was at, and she is there for physical therapy right now. They are very attentive to her needs. She is in there as an assisted living resident as well. The place is really pleasant, and the staff is really good. There are some minor issues, like my aunt has a preference with the taste of food which cannot be accommodated. But all in all, I'm satisfied with where she is. She had some issues with some of the staff members, but the director there has been very attentive to her needs and really looks after her too because I'm not always there and she doesn't really have a lot of relatives to check in on her. They're very gracious to look out for her and keep me abreast of anything that has happened. Particularly, she was in the assisted living side and needed to have surgery. All of that was pre-arranged with the director of the assisted living side so that she could go back to the facility on the nursing home side to have her therapy. All of that arrangement just took a lot of burden off of us. I was grateful for that.

The facility was clean and well staffed. My family was quite pleased with the facility and the level of care provided.

My father-in-law stayed here for a few months and was very well treated. While he was there his walking improved to the point that he no longer needed a walker. It seemed that they were quite serious and scrupulous about administering therapy. His "apartment" was large enough and had a nice window. The location was convenient and staff seemed adequate.
