Laurel Wellness Care Center is OK. I get PT, OT, and skilled nursing. They have a gym, an entertainment center, and a picnic area outside that's nice and grassy. They also allow us to go outside to smoke in the smoking area. The rooms are OK. Some of them are a little overcrowded. When they give me a meal that I have requested, it's usually good. There's bingo, coloring time, coffee time, newspaper time, and a whole list of things. Sometimes it just takes a long time to answer your buzzer.

My mother has been in Laurel Convalescent Hospital for a couple of months now. The staff is OK. However, when you walk in, it doesn't smell good. She wants to eat out a lot because she doesn't like their food. It's an OK community. They have outings, games, and basic things all nursing homes seem to have.

We went to Laurel. They took us on a tour and gave us information we needed. We met one woman and a few coworkers briefly and they seemed to be very nice and that was about it. In terms of activities, at that time, they were doing something in the activity room but since we were on a tour, we didn't stand and watch what they were doing and they didn't allow us to do that. The visit was very quick and we didn't spend a lot of time there. Also, they didn't have a room available for my mom. The reason why we can't put my mother there is because their secure unit, which is locked down, is full right now unless somebody dies. The other parts of the home are unsecured but they don't worry about that because their residents are wheelchair bound. Overall, we really like this place, they just didn't have space for my mother.

Laurel Wellness came over and visited our house. They explained how they could help my wife. They're very nice people, very helpful. They provide occupational therapy, physical therapy, and even a dentist would come once a week. They care for the patients and help them with their personal hygiene, they do their nails, and they even bring them audio books they to listen to. They're always there whenever my wife needed them for anything. It's a family-oriented place. The food is good but my wife is in a special diet. It's a very clean place, from the offices, to hallways, to kitchen.
