My father stayed in Milestone Senior Living - Cross Plains. It was a lovely, clean, and beautiful facility. It had very nice people; we enjoyed everyone we met. When I did go to visit him, he was never in his room because he was out socializing or in the sunroom, so it was it was a happy last twenty days. The staff seemed fine. We didn't see a lot of them when we moved in. I was concerned because Dad was kind of quiet when we first moved him in. They came in, talked to him, and made him feel comfortable. They told me the next day when he was there, that it was the best day he ever had. The first day he was just so happy there. It was a small little room, but it was just right; it was enough. They furnished everything, which is nice. They have a salon and they have a sunroom, which was where he went. They have an outside courtyard that's fenced in nicely, so there was no escape and nobody could wander off. They have a nice lunchroom where they ate, and that was nice. They sat together at different tables. The administrator was very nice and very helpful. When we moved in, she and I sat down together and went over everything that was included with living there. We went through all of that, and she was very thorough. They have nurses on site, which I really liked because they have someone 24/7. The place is only a few years old, and it looked like the memory care where he was is all on one level, which is nice. It had nice wide corridors, and it was laid out nicely.
My brother seems to be doing great at Milestone Senior Living in Cross Plains. He said when he puts his light on, the staff comes in and answers it. He seems to be satisfied. He's actually getting out of his room and eating some of his meals in the dining room, instead of just always in his room.
I feel that they're a lot friendlier than other facilities, at least you see the staff when you come to visit and they've always been welcoming. So far staying there for just a week, I'm amazed at how happier he seems to be.
The place is laid out very nicely, and his room is great. We were able to set things up the way he wanted them to be. We were able to set it up so that his reclining chair looked out the window, so he could watch the birds and the little critters coming by.
I have not tried the food, but my brother says that the food is good. The best thing about the place is the fact that the staff is there to communicate with you and lets you know what's going on.
Their facilities are very clean and fresh-smelling when you go in. You don't smell urine or anything like that. It seems very well-kept.
