The Residence at Shelburne Bay was very beautiful. It was definitely something that I would love. It was very clean, very welcoming, and most of the residents I saw in the memory care seemed happy (even though they were not really aware of what was going on around them). The staff seemed to be taking good care of them, but it was just out of our price range. I met Boston, and she was fantastic. She really knew the place very well. She answered all our questions. Actually, we tried the food and it was good. The menu looked like it was very flexible for different dietary needs. It looked like they have something going on every day.

We went to The Residence at Shelburne Bay. The staff is very nice. Everything was great, very clean, and friendly. I don't have anything bad to say, and the director is wonderful. I'd say maybe the only downside is, we saw the memory care place itself because it's part of a bigger area like there's the assisted living in there and then there are some private apartments also. So that's how you walk in. But then you go down the stairs to the memory care area, it's a locked area, and not quite as nice. It doesn't have the visual interest the upstairs had, but it was still OK. Some of the rooms overlook the courtyard and some of them overlook -- they have nice grounds there overlooking a pond. It's nicely done and it's cheery. They've got bright colors on the walls and in all that memory care area, it's like, I think bright yellow or something. I have no complaints. We had lunch there, but it was in the assisted living section. The memory care has their kitchen and I don't know what their meals are, but we had a very nice lunch with the director, my daughter, and me. I think the chef is just for the assisted living section that has their own dining room, which is like going out to dinner with tablecloths and the whole bit, wherein memory care they don't go anywhere. They're just right there. They have their little dining set up and they have their little kitchen and people cooking for them. They had all kinds of stuff, they had a calendar of everyday activities, different things from simple crafts to games, to exercise, and it's different every day. There's nothing wrong with it. It just wasn't our thing because of the location.
