I've had an interview with the marketing director of Spring Arbor of Fredericksburg, and I was able to tour the memory care facility that will be open in 2 weeks.
What I like is that there will only be 20 beds in there, it's the smallest community I have ever seen. It is brand-new, although Spring Arbor is already an established entity. It has other memory care in other cities, so they know what they're doing. They are adjacent to an assisted living right now. They will be a very hands-on and intimate community. The residents won't get lost. It's not institutional. That is what I was trying to get away from. The staff was very gracious, very friendly, and willing to give you any information that they have. The assisted living part was also very beautiful.

I went to Spring Arbor of Fredericksburg. The staff I met was very friendly. It is less residents in the unit, so the staff has more time for the residents. It is geared towards dementia patients, and they have different stations for them. They are active. They even can cook if they wanted to. Each unit has their own kitchen for 20 patients, and they have their own kitchen staff. They have a lot of activities to stimulate them, and they have got nice sized rooms. They are building a new unit, and it is opening up next month. I did not eat there, but everything feels cozy and at home.
