When we went and first looked at the Reunion Court of the Woodlands, we just got a really good feel about it. Then I had some other people in my family go look at it, and they got the same feeling. Once we decided to put my mom there, it was nice.
Somebody checks on her all the time down in the memory care part of the facility. She has the same caretaker that's there every day during the day, so it's a familiar face for her. It's been a great experience so far.
I was only able to tour the memory care part. The rooms are really fairly large for that kind of facility; each one of the rooms has its own bathroom. They also have cooks that are there, so they make their own meals. For the memory care residents, it is always 2 choices for breakfast, 2 choices for lunch, and 2 choices for dinner.
They have activities. When we were touring it one time, we watched them do activities. They were doing science activities. They were making volcanoes, and it was pretty cool. I'm thinking she's going to get stimulated with those kinds of things.
They also are faith-based, so on Sundays they do church services. They do songs and things like that with the residents. From everything that I saw, I just have a really good feeling about it.
Once we got her there, I would go back to take things to her or to check on her. They're always very friendly and helpful. They know us all by name, even my niece and my friends that go regularly to see her. They know everybody by name. It's just a pretty warm and friendly place to be.
They also have a little outdoor court area for just the memory care patients with a mailbox. I think that's going to be cool because Mom has some friends that will send her cards. They said that when they get mailed, they put it out there. Then they walk with the resident out to get their mail. That's kind of a cool thing too, I think. It's pretty neat.
The staff is very friendly and they're very helpful. In some of the places that I toured, I kind of got the feeling that there wasn't enough staff there. There is enough staff in this facility and they've been there for a long time.
It's probably one of the cleanest facilities that I went in and nothing needed repair. We had 3 different rooms from which to choose. One of them, we would have to wait a little bit longer to get into because as the residents moved out, they were repainting and re-carpeting. They're constantly updating, and they're not disturbing residents. As they move out or as they leave, then they're going in and taking care of updating those rooms to make them nice and pretty.
They have things throughout the day for the residents, and there are different kinds of activities. The residents can choose to go or not to go. It's not always the same thing every day.
When I toured other facilities, they all run about the same cost in that same ballpark area. I felt the most comfortable with this one, so I think that we are getting our money's worth. We're not overpaying. We're not underpaying. It's good.
