About This Community

AutumnGrove Cottage™ is a sixteen resident, private-pay, assisted living home specializing in care for senior adults with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia-related illnesses. To use an analogy, AutumnGrove Cottage™ is to the assisted living industry what a bed and breakfast is to the hotel industry. It is smaller, homelike in design and appearance, and personal. With only sixteen residents, the staff and families get to know each other in a very personal and intimate way.

We honor our families and proactively communicate and support them through this difficult time. We help families understand the importance of home care and hospice services allowing residents to live at AutumnGrove Cottage™ through end of life.

Our Difference: We honor the resident for the person that they are today, as well as who they were yesterday. We respect their dignity, optimize their individuality and focus on their remaining strengths and abilities. Everything we do centers around Alzheimer’s and memory care, from our building design, staffing requirements, to our training and education programs.

There are many aspects that make AutumnGrove Cottage™ a unique concept, but the two most important differences are design and focus.

Design – From the moment you drive into the driveway, our cottage looks and feels like someone’s private home. This is one of the cornerstones in the AutumnGrove Cottage™ belief that people should be able to age in the same manner they are accustomed to living.

Focus – Alzheimer’s and memory care is not something we do it’s ALL we do. Our caregivers are “universal workers”. They are responsible for every need of the resident throughout their day including grooming, bathing, activities, preparing and assisting with meals. Our caregivers get to know the residents’ preferences and provide more personalized care. Our staff-to-resident ratio is over two times higher than most traditional assisted living facilities.

My husband will be moving into AutumnGrove Cottage Stone Oak. It's small. The maximum occupancy for residents is 16. It's more of a home feel. It's not a big, big place. They have a good ratio of patient-to-staff ratio. The rooms are very nice, very similar to what we have here at the house in size and everything. He'll get to take his own bed. I don't know if all places do that, but he will have some things in the room with him. It's just a very clean facility. There are lots of activities for the residents to participate in and very friendly staff. The outdoor spaces are very pleasing. It's got like a walking path, not very long and not very big, but a nice walking path with trees and plants, and a little patio for residents to sit out there and enjoy the fresh air. I have not tried their food, but their dining area is not cafeteria-style, not fancy, but just very comfortable like you're sitting at home and eating with other people. They were all very friendly, and I was just very impressed with all of it.

AutumnGrove Cottage Stone Oak was nice. It's smaller, which I liked, and right off the main street. They had a little area where you can go outside but basically it faces the busy street, so there's not much scenery. There's no real privacy if you want to be with your family members and no place for them to sit. It's not large enough. I went there early in the morning, and the people were eating their breakfast. I don't think they have a lot of activities since it's a smaller facility. They don't have many more than 12 or 14 people. Their staff did the cooking and seemed really nice.
