I chose The Village of River Oaks. The building was brand new. It's only four years old, so everything was new. The main thing is they had a big suite available that they gave me the deal on. That was probably the primary thing was the value of the size of the suite, where it was located, and that it was a real good value. Secondly, I would say the distance or the time it takes me to get from my house over to there. I'm familiar with that area. I don't have a problem as far as remembering how to get over there, and the drive isn't impossible.
I was looking for memory care for my parents. We saw the building. The guy was very thorough and was answering questions, which you'd expect. He was very enthusiastic, very animated, and accommodating. They had parking. You could park your car inside the gate, so that was good. It looked nice going into it. Aesthetically, it looked fine.
They did have an area that I thought was sort of unique. It was like going outside, but you really weren't going outside. It was all like a certain floor. You could go out and sort of enjoy the fresh air, but it's like you couldn't jump out of the building or anything like that. You can enjoy the outdoors, but not be on the first floor where somebody might wander into traffic or who knows what they might do. It was safe for people to go out there. It was a pretty big area, so a lot of people could mill around in there to feel some fresh air.

I was very impressed at The Village of River Oaks. I went to see their memory care. Everything was bright. Everybody seemed active and doing things, and the atmosphere was just nice. The staff was excellent, and the rooms were very nice. The location, for me, is excellent. It's just right down the street. I can walk to it.

This memory care facility has the most important thing you should be looking for. Caring caregivers, Resident directors and executive and assistant directors.
The medic team the caregiver director are all OUTSTANDING.
After over a year I can say they care. They are constantly trained and what we all want for our parents or loved ones is being well cared for.
Everything else you can visually see which is great. But the care, you have to know.
5 stars. They are also so receptive to any comments and will do everything in their power to make it better or change
