I was able to tour Mustang Creek Estates - Burleson's new building that they made for memory care. It was still in progress, but it was nice. The person giving me the tour was great. There was a resident there and she was asleep right there, when you first walk in, at a dining table. I was like "Why is she there?" And nobody was checking on her until I left. He explained that she likes to be out where everyone is, even though she's napping, she likes to be there. Another resident came out, and she said hello and she was smiling. She seemed happy. They showed me a private and a semi-private room, the size and layout were fine. They were brand new, so they were clean. I saw their activities area which was nice.
I toured Mustang Creek Estates and they were very friendly, respectful, answered all the questions that we had, and brought up questions we didn't have, and covered those things. We toured the memory care area and what we liked the most was the pricing and their forthrightness about it. It was all-inclusive. The facilities were very clean and they looked new. The only drawback was it's farther away than I thought it was.
The director and the manager were absolutely one hundred percent of what you would want. They were very factual and very cordial, but as far as the working staff, when they were asked to come over to meet us, they just acted a little strange. Then we saw the activity room and found out that a new activity director was hired. They had some paintings that they had been doing that were in there too.
We visited Mustang Creek Estates - Burleson, and we did not like it at all. They did not seem very homey or anything. We only saw one person, but we were not very impressed. The rooms were just plain Jane; they all look exactly the same. They were all empty, and in fact the whole building was shut down and not even open. They just showed us this little area where people cook. They said the people cook their own food, and we thought that was weird. We did not see very much of anything because we were not impressed with it very much at all. They said they have no nurse there because they said in Texas that is illegal. It did not look very clean at all. It is like four or five separate buildings. They did not tell me which building to go; the appointment just said "two o'clock." We went, then the lady came out of the office, I guess, and she said we're supposed to be going to building B. So went to building B, but then we were supposed to go to building C. We were not impressed. We will never put our mom there. I'm not surprised they don't have any people. We went around the whole building, and nobody was there; the rooms were empty. It looked like they don't have anybody there. They said that building is shut down. Other than the kitchen part, I think it looks pretty clean.
Mustang Creek started out as a great place for my mom but slid down hill quickly. We would show up to visit my mother and her hands were covered in feces as well as part of her face. This happened three separate times. My mom fell and couldn't walk and they had to call me to ask what to do. I had to tell them to call an ambulance. My mother's jewelry was stolen and everyone who I asked for help didn't respond. The price increases dramatically each year and the director and staff change more frequent than I have ever seen. On our last visit, we stood outside for ten minutes ringing the doorbell before someone came to the door. The residents were all alone and the worker, who appeared to be the only worker there, looked as though she had been asleep. Please don't trust this place with your family members.
My mother moved into Mustang Creek Estates of Burleson. So far it's been good. The staff is good and I met everybody. It seems like she's really doing well there. So far they've been very supportive and helpful. In the building she's in it's good, it's big, there's enough room for her to roam around, and she likes to move. They let her go, walk around, redirect her when they need to, but so far it's been a good experience. They're cooking good meals, so she's eating really well, and they seem to be on top of stuff. It was higher priced than what I could afford, but they worked with me in order to get me in the building, so I greatly appreciated that.
Mustang Creek is very modern and nice. It is a small house. They could use more staff at times. However, they're very welcoming, very polite and very patient. My husband is not always the nicest person, but they're very patient with him.
The physical appearance is very nice and beautiful. They have all kinds of activities, like a person would come and exercises with them. They do different things for different holidays, but my husband doesn't participate. They do field trips.
The staff members are very sweet and very patient. The food is nice and the dining area is a big room. The kitchen is open and you can see them preparing the meals for the family table where they all serve the meals to the residents. It always smells good. They buy fresh food and they cook it. It is a good value and they are very competitive with the other places I have looked into.
I went to Mustang Creek. The rooms were small. The staff members were friendly enough. The problem was that there is no nurse on staff all the time. The residents were doing crafts when we were there. The dining area was clean but dark. They have an outdoor sitting area. The other thing I didn't like was that the people are in a separate building away from the main building, and that concerns me. If anything ever happened there, they only have the staff members there at the time; it would be hard to get other staff members over.
