About This Community

Gardens at Sumter offers seniors an all-inclusive lifestyle that provides assistance with activities of daily living, such as medication management, transportation and personal care. Service is available 24/7, and Gardens at Sumter ensures that you or your loved one receives care in a comfortable and engaging environment. Gardens at Sumter takes a holistic approach to caring for those with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. We pair this individualized care with our life-enrichment activity program, designed to keep our residents active, fulfilled, and engaged.

We also offer respite care, or short-term stays, which is a good option for seniors who want to give their normal caregivers a break, recover after surgery or other medical issues, or simply want to test the waters before making us their new home. Our respite guests will receive all the same benefits as our full-time residents.

The Gardens at Sumter is clean, bright and welcoming. The staff is wonderful and always helpful. My Mom is settling in and has called a few times but is much calmer now. They have plenty of activities, including an upcoming family picnic for July 4th. There is a beauty salon and ice cream parlor on-site. Windows in each room make it bright and the screened porch is nice. I would recommend The Gardens highly, in fact it was recommended to me by an acquaintance. A++.

They had activities at least 2 or 3 a day for residents. A calendar was placed on their wall. The staff took pictures and sent them to me during COVID when we could not go into the home. This meant a lot to my family and I! They had several vendor/craft events where the families could take their loved ones and attend and buy crafts and food. They allowed our small grandchildren to visit as well. In the end, Edgar was blind and I tried to go daily at night to help feed him.but sometimes I couldn’t. The staff went above and beyond by making sure someone assisted him or fed him. The employees were easy to talk to and we became a little family within the Gardens.

My mother has moved into Gardens at Sumter. She's in memory care. Everything is going fine. They seem to be attentive and caring. Her room is alright. She's sharing a room right now and it's the first time we put her in a semi-private room. Everything looks like it's taken care of. The food seems nutritious, and she's eating well. As her stay is extended longer, I probably would recommend it and right now, I would.
