We moved my mother into Summit Hills Memory Care Unit a few months ago. We have been very happy with the care she is receiving. The staff have bent over backwards to make sure that both my mom and us kids are happy with this move. Everyone is so friendly and caring. COVID has made visitation a real challenge but Summit Hills has done everything possible to ensure we still get to visit with our loved one. It is never an easy thing to move a loved one into a facility but if you are considering it check out Summit.

BEWARE - Summit Hills was not what it seemed to myself and my family. Mom went to Skilled Nursing/Rehab in July 2020. Mom has vascular dementia. The first 48 hours, Mom refused to eat or drink (Mom needs coaxing due to her dementia). The staff was not informed (even though we filled out paperwork and gave explicit instructions). It was not recorded on Mom’s charts that Mom needed a “feeder” and is diabetic. When we FaceTimed Mom that evening, she was delirious and more confused than usual. We told the staff that we were discharging Mom the next morning. Hours later, the staff did a 360-degree turn. Is that what it takes to get the staff to do it correctly? We picked Mom up the following morning. The Executive Director for Skilled Nursing failed to reach out with an explanation, or even a conversation with a concerned family. If we were not a “helicopter family” I do not know if Mom would still be with us today.

Summit Hills was too expensive, but it was very nice. It’s where anybody would like to go. I have tried their food, and it was excellent. The dining area was beautiful. I would absolutely recommend this facility to others. They had outside activities, and they had a wellness center.

The grounds and building are very nice. There is a very high turn over of staff from the top to the bottom. The med techs do not follow the guidelines and continually gave incorrect dosages of coumadin to my father. Difficult to talk to anyone (probably because of the high turn over). Use a lot of agency aids which did not know the routines or procedures.
