We have moved my mother into Harmony at West Ashley. It's very good. The staff seems very nice. My mother is in memory care, so they're a little limited. Right now, because of the COVID, a lot of the activities are suspended. They do activities with them in the memory care unit every day, morning and afternoon, but they don't go out of the facility. They don't have a swimming pool, they do have a library, and they do have an exercise area. They have social areas but right now, they can't use those because of COVID. I haven't eaten their food, but my mother likes it. The dining area is nice. I can't get in there a lot but the staff members seem very caring and they call me when they need anything. They seem very appropriate.

Harmony at West Ashley is a new community. I like it a lot and my brother also likes it although it took a couple of weeks for him to get adjusted. It's very expensive, they just went up another $200 so I'm not happy about that because they've only been open a year and the price is already going up. But other than that, we're very happy with the community. With regards to the staff members and the care he is getting, I'm also happy with all of them. He has a private room with a bathroom. They take the residents on outings once a month, they have different classes they can do or outings they can go to, they also do arts and crafts. They have amenities like an activity room in the assisted living and not in the memory care. The only thing I was disappointed with was that they sold me saying that my brother could get to all of those amenities, but that's not really true. The memory care patients can't get in or out, so they can't access the amenities unless a nurse takes them in and out, which they don't really do.

I'm really happy with The Crossings at West Ashley. It's very nice and very clean. I liked it a lot because it's the only place I know where the memory care residents interact with the assisted and independent residents. They have social events where they all get together. I like that they are very strict about not letting the residents go back to their rooms if they don't feel like eating or doing an activity. They try to make a point of having them out in the common area with everybody. The only thing I don't like is that they're understaffed. The caregivers that work there have to also do the laundry and get all the meals ready. They're really overworked. My mother's studio apartment is very large. It has two closets, beautiful bathrooms, it's very well equipped, and brand new. They have a separate activity area for the assisted and independent living. The memory care has an area that's completely locked down. They have a nice walking area with a little garden-like setting.
