I've seen Carolina Gardens at Lexington. I also made a call today to see if they have availability in their memory care unit. It's probably 20 years old. There are several places in the area that are newer and a little bit nicer maybe, but this place looked very well furnished and very well cared for. I didn't have a problem with it at all. Everybody was very good, respectful, and caring.
The staff that I met was all very nice and friendly. I even was able to observe some of the staff working with some people that live there in their common area. They were doing some things, and it looked good to me. My wife's grandmother was there a few years ago, and we liked the place at that time. She went to several places, and we liked that place the best of all.
I saw the residents in the common area. They had bingo or something like that going on at that time. They were interacting with the residents. They were playing some games and doing things. There were some others in the little common area watching the Today Show. I visited there when my wife's grandmother was there. It was nice. She was happy there, and so that was one of the first places that I looked at and turned to when my dad needed to go somewhere. Our prior grandparents were happy there, so now I'm looking to put my parents there.

I was satisfied with Carolina Gardens at Lexington. The people seemed very nice. The place was very clean and bright. The people who lived there all looked very well taken care of. The rooms were not huge, but nice. My mom will be in the memory care unit. They have places where they can watch TV with very comfortable chairs. They also have physical therapy. They have planned activities so there's something going on almost all the time. They take them on day trips out of the facility also.
