Brookdale Centre of New England was a little older, but it was very neat and clean. I could tell it was an older facility, but that didn't bother me so much. The staff was very, very helpful. I actually had a couple of people chime in. I had an activity director who talked to me, and I had a woman give me the whole tour. They were all very helpful, and they answered all of our questions. I enjoyed the place; I believe it' s a really wonderful place. It's just that my mom would not sit there. The dining area was wonderful, and they sent us home with some yummy brownies that were to die for. I was like, "Oh my gosh, it's like living in a restaurant here." The dining facilities looked very good. They were having an exercise program upstairs in the memory care portion of it. They had just finished with some live entertainment that was in there, and they continued with songs and singing afterwards. It looked like it was pretty active. It was nice. The reason for a four is that they didn't go on to nursing care. They only had memory and assisted. I think it would have been better if they continued on into a nursing program.

The staff at Brookdale Centre of New England was friendly and knowledgeable. For us, it was just the units were kind of oddly shaped. Some of the studios we saw weren't very friendly, as far as how they were designed. We noticed that there was some wear and tear on the facility a little bit. They have a common area where a lot of the folks would congregate. There were other areas where the residents could play games, and one area where they would have books accessible to them. They also offer transportation for medical appointments. One of the residents actually joined us on our little tour. She took us in to see her room and said that she enjoyed living there. She felt happy about things. They have an enclosed area with an outside courtyard and a little garden that they could go out and spend time there. In warmer climates, they learn about planting and gardening, too.

I visited Brookdale Centre of New England, and we've decided on it because it is close to my house. They were giving out their residents their second dose of vaccine, so I could not actually see the individual living areas, but from what I could see, I was comfortable and satisfied compared to the one my husband is staying in currently. The staff appeared to be very involved in their residents, and they have all the essentials and support of the staff onsite. I was only at the front entrance and a special room they have for family to visit, but from what I could see, it seemed organized, and the place was very warm. I was just very surprised with the number of personnel to attend to the needs of the residents too. They answered all my questions and I met the head of that particular memory care center, and various people that I don't think he was just gonna stay there to run up the statistics, but somebody will be working with him and taking care of him.
