Allegria at the Oaks took us for a tour and showed us a little bit of everything. It was a short tour. The people were very, very nice. It seems like a very nice place. They showed us rooms, and their rooms seemed to be nice. They're not that big, but they were very clean. That was a place where you were allowed to bring your own furniture if you wanted to, and that was a good thing. I didn't see any activities, but I saw a group of people sitting around, and they were singing a song with somebody. We walked around the building, and they gave us an idea of what it was going to be like and stuff like that, and that was very helpful.

I chose Allegria at The Oaks for my dad. The location was great, it was the closest one for us. Also, he was able to get a roommate option which cut the cost for $400 a month that helped a lot. I'm kinda glad we went that route with a roommate because with his Alzheimer's he doesn't remember and there's no interaction between them all. The other one gets up and out during the day, and my dad get a couple more of a later start. The other guy's a little earlier and start early to bed, they never called us. It's a little weird but I'm like ''you know what, that keep work out pretty good''. But the main, main reason we chose Allegria was we do the roommate and definitely the location was the big sell too. He moved early September so far, they've been pretty good but Covid makes things very complicated. Considering in the elderly system, they're trying to get people out coordinating from medical visits and also making sure that they don't carry things back in and stuff, so they're very cautious with that. And a lot of times with memory care you notice like missing doctor visits and stuff. You take them and drop them off but with Covid, you can't do that, unless it's a true emergency. So, they are really struggling, and the staff were doing a great job, they have to deal with a lot of medical appointments, a lot of zoom meetings and stuff with the patients which is a new learning curve for all of them just because it is a high consuming. They're doing really great and communication is very good. I know they're busy, so I leave a voicemail, and if they don't respond within like 24-hours I definitely give them a call and I can get a hold of somebody. Right now, I haven't had anything that's really true emergency. I was only able to see him once so far and it was due to Covid and stuff, that was about 6 weeks after I dropped him off, they were very, very careful with the restrictions of people coming in. They would send him outside once, he looked good, the staff she'd taken good care of him. The medical department and his kidney specialist say his kidney, his levels are actually doing better. So, they are definitely taking care of him food wise. They do try to encourage him to get out and interact with people which may not be the best for him, he can be a little bit of an introvert, but they make the effort, and that's what I ask. My dad does not complain about the food, so I assume it's good.

I toured the memory care of Allegria at the Oaks. I liked it, but I was a little disappointed that they're doing some construction inside, though they made it sound like they're only doing it for two weeks. Their dining area was also under construction, but that's the kind of thing you can't help when somebody else takes over. I guess I was just disappointed because I have visited several places and they're my favorite one, and they didn't call me the next day. The place itself was OK, but because of the whole package, I liked what I saw.
