I toured the memory care unit of Brookdale Harrisburg for my dad. It had a good look and there was no smell or anything like that. It didn't remind me of a nursing home and it was a nice facility. The room I saw was nice too.
The method of payment was straight-up pay, there was no Medicare or Medicaid or anything like that to help out.
The staff was really nice and they were open. We thought they would try to hide anything from us but everything went well and we were satisfied with the visit.
We saw the dining area but we didn't eat there. It seemed to look okay. We talked to the patients about the food as well and they did not have any complaints about it.
The recreational director seemed to be pretty enthusiastic to get the residents involved in activities.

I researched several facilities before placing my father here. No place is perfect. But it has been pretty accommodating. At first my Dad didn't want to be here. He really needed the memory care. But, After 3 weeks he is now finally coming around. My Mom is also in the process of moving in. She came down. She liked it so much she also decided to give it a try!
