Deer Meadows Retirement Community is situated on seven acres of land and is conveniently located in Northeast Philadelphia. Offering independent living, personal care, secured memory care and skilled nursing, this community offers a continuum of care and is uniquely positioned to meet the changing needs of our residents. Originally founded in 1869 as The Baptist Home of Philadelphia, for nearly 150 years, Deer Meadows has been a provider of high-quality residential services that allow seniors to remain active and independent, while confident of the best assistance, support, and medical care. Residents are able to enter our community at any care level and do not have to pay a "buy-in" that many continuing care requires.

Our residents enjoy maintenance-free living in a safe, caring environment. Residents can choose from our beautifully appointed studio, one, or two-bedroom apartments. All our accommodations offer meals, housekeeping, and a recreational and social calendar for our residents' convenience. Our one and two-bedroom apartments have a full kitchen and washer/dryer. Studio units have kitchenettes with washer/dryer units on each floor. There is no need to move apartments if you step up from independent living to personal care, as we simply bring the care to you.

All staff members from administrative to support and maintenance are carefully screened and undergo age-sensitive training. I toured Deer Meadows Retirement Community for respite care. My dad will be in their memory care. They had a room that was readily available for our timeframe as well as the cost out of pocket. I was very impressed with the secured unit as well as all the amenities that he would be able to have access to as far as activities. My concern was, that while he is home, he's inactive, but that facility has a lot of activities for him to engage in even though he is in a secure unit. I was very impressed with that. A lot of activities were more recreational. There's access to a pool table, there's access to an actual game room, and of course, just having the access to your private TV and things of that sort. A lot of those things pretty much impressed me. The staff were very friendly and very welcoming. I had my son with me when during the tour, and they were very engaging with him. They explained to us that we would still be able to visit my dad during this time. They were friendly and welcoming when he went back for a second tour, so it was very nice. They also explained to us that in the memory care unit, you need a code to get onto the floor and off the floor.
