My wife will be moving into The Mansion at Waterford. It's a familiar area and not far from where I'm going to be living at my dad's house. The facility is older. It has a little patina to it, but it's a good patina. They have a smaller unit where there are only 19 patients. They seemed to care about what they were doing. They've got some people that are trying to deal with memory care patients. They have a chef who cooks meals. Everything is pretty good. They have some bigger units that are available, but my wife will be in a studio apartment-type thing. The staff was open and cheerful person. She understands what's going on. The dining area was nice. The general setup seemed to be well thought out. They have a beauty salon and their own doctor that's available to immediately write prescriptions if necessary. They have their own bus to take patients out. They do that on a fairly regular basis. They have an area that even the memory patients can walk in and still be secure.

We like The Mansion at Waterford because of the price. The reason why I wouldn't give them a 5 is it's an older facility even though it's well maintained, but then on the positive points, it's got a good atmosphere. They have a beautiful courtyard and it's not sitting right on a road where you're looking out at a road or looking out at a field when you're in your room. The people in there seemed knowledgeable about what they're doing and they seemed caring. The other thing is they had an opening, so that's one of the good points. It is an older place, but it was clean and well maintained. They had plenty of security to keep people from coming and going. It's room and board. It had a nice dining facility and it had a separate area for memory care, so they weren't mixed with the general public.

The Mansion at Waterford was an overall large facility, but it's small as far as the memory care, which was good. It's somewhat dated, but nice, and the rooms were in revamping stages. It wasn't the nicest facility that I looked at, but it wasn't the worst either. They had an activity director, and they showed me their activity schedule. They do arts and crafts and things of that nature. I wasn't super impressed. The person during the tour was very good.

My husband is in Mansion at Waterford. He is in a studio apartment, and we pay for that. Then we pay a little bit more for his services because he has dementia and he needs care. It is close to where I live. It will really impress you when first go in when they show you the dining room and everything. The nursing part is good because I know when I am there, they always give my husband his pills, and they offer to take his blood pressure. He is diabetic so they take good care of that. However, the office staff is terrible. The girl at the reception desk seems like every time I ask to see somebody, they are in a meeting or busy. I ask them to speak to me, but they don't come to speak to me. However, he is well taken care of.
