I have my dad on a list at Baptist Village of Broken Arrow and so we're just waiting for them to have an opening. I was looking for dementia care. They have only 10 patients, so that's why I liked it the most. All the other facilities had at least 18 or more. The environment was small and was more hands-on, which is what I was looking for. It was clean, and it was friendly. They provided more hands-on care because they are limited to 10 folks at a time, and I think that's much more doable. They have smaller numbers of memory care since they need more one-on-one. The staff are very friendly. They seem very open to my questions. They did a great interview. The room was a little bit larger. It had a built-in cabinet for my dad's hanging clothes. The bathroom was a little more accessible. It had a little more cabinet space. It had a locked cabinet that I could have a key to so that I could keep things in there, and I could access that when I needed to do things with him when I was there. The dining hall was almost immediately outside of his room, which made it easier for the staff to see. It was circular pretty much, and then all the rooms kind of surrounded it, which was nice. Right now, my father has to walk a good bit of length to get to the dining hall three times a day. He's still mobile, but he's very slow. And so I like that because they can visually see him go back and forth to his room when they're in the dining hall doing things. It's just a smaller environment. They dine together. But I'm not sure what the activities were because we didn't speak directly with the activity director. The day that I went, they were kind of on lockdown because of COVID. They have a whirlpool bath that is used by memory care people, which I like. It's a heated room, and it would be fabulous. My dad has got a lot of arthritis in his knees, so that was something else that I thought would be very, very helpful for him.
