My wife moved into Brookdale Zanesville. I like the people that work there, and I like the way they're taking care of her. She's beginning to be more cooperative and that helps a lot because she needs to be, in order to get all the help she can get. It is locked down and they have to let me in and let me out every day. They don't mind if I come any time and I go twice a day. It's fairly close to where I live, so it all works well. Her room is nice. We have our furniture in there. It's got a nice window and she's able to look outside. The bathroom is easily accessible. I like the room. They showed me another room with furniture in it and I liked the layout. Hers has a room for a couch, a couple of chairs, and a chest of drawers, and it's working out very well. They have three meals a day, and they can take her down with her walker and help her eat. Sometimes she doesn't eat, and sometimes she sleeps a lot, but she's getting better. She hasn't taken part in any of the things that they do and barely talks to anybody, but I think that's getting better. They take her out for a walk and she says hi to people and some of them know her name now. The attendants do a very good job.

I thought Brookdale Zanesville was a very nice facility, and the people were very nice. The salesperson we talked to was very helpful and very caring. We toured the memory care. We also talked to the lady that was in charge of the activities. We saw one furnished room, and then we saw the one that was vacant or empty; it was ready for my mom if she needed it. It was very efficient.

It would have been my second choice. The facilities are excellent. The way that they handle the dementia patients during day time and the way they supervise them is just excellent. They're quite good at it. They have the facilities which were specifically planned for that. Personally, I did not think that the food was quite as strong as it was with other facility. And sometimes the food is important with people with dementia.
