We put my mom-in-law in Glenwood Care and Rehabilitation. She tried to escape on the first night. They moved her into their memory care unit, which is a locked floor. They worked very, very hard to get her in. She was without a home and without a lot of funding to find a place. She did not qualify for Medicare or Medicaid. We were really kind of optionless. The admissions gal actually talked up the regional people and told them we need to get her in there. They worked as hard and as quickly as they could to get her in. I think within four days they had a room for her. I'm very impressed with their admission, and their care about her situation. Since they moved her to the memory floor, I'm confident that they're going to take care of her needs and treat her as she needs to be treated. Most of the staff that we've come in contact with have been very nice and very helpful. I know they are short staffed. It is a small concern of mine that she may not be interacted with as much as we'd like her to be. That's the only negative thing I have seen thus far.
Her room is not the nicest, but it's not the worst. I did have to clean a little bit. Her room had a broken drawer that they were going to fix. I think a lot of that is just being short handed. They may have like one or two janitors working on the whole place, so I understand that. It wasn't like a top notch room. They told me that she ate all of her breakfast in the morning, so the food must not be awful. She now goes to the dining room on her floor, though there's also a larger dining hall below. She also ate in her room at one point. They seem to have a very good menu and options available.
They have a few outdoor spaces. When we went, they were re-paving the parking lot. They have a pond with a gazebo, tables, and chairs. There's an outdoor patio that's through the main dining hall. We can check her out, and we're able to take her outside with us. Right now it's not the cushiest; they can do more things with it. There are a few areas outside where people can sit and socialize. Because of COVID, they're not doing a lot, but they're starting field trips soon. I think they have a bus or something where residents can sign up to go to different outings. Their cost is like $200 a day, which I think is pretty reasonable.
