We visited Brookdale Mount Vernon. They offer assisted living and memory care. It was very bright. The residents were interacting with one another at some sort of a happy hour. They seemed to be enjoying themselves. We got to speak to the manager. The staff were all very, very accommodating and answered all our questions. We didn't look at assisted living because we determined that my father would probably need memory care.
The rooms were nice and pretty spacious. We did not see one that was set up, but they just opened an empty one for us. It wasn't as nice in the memory care. It wasn't as pleasant of an experience just because of the level of care that people needed there. It had a little bit of an odor. It didn't bother us so much because we know that the level of care there would have been comparatively more.
We looked at their menu, and we were pretty impressed with all they had to offer, so it sounded good. The staff went above and beyond even afterward. I got several calls from one of them. They were just very, very helpful. However, we weren't as impressed in the memory care section. It was not quite as nice as the other area of the home.
