My mother is living in Sunrise of Henderson. The community is very nice, and her experience there has been very enriched. She's having a good time. The staff is very good and very helpful. Her room is nice, clean, and has a good view of the part behind the house. They do exercises, they have group activities, they do bingo, they're currently having a luau, and they have good social activities. The staff works well, and she likes the food. The socialization has been real good. She's in memory care.

Sunrise of Henderson is amazing. It's way out of my price range, unfortunately, but it's a beautiful facility. Their memory care is quite a large building and it's set in a very lovely setting. Their memory care is on the third floor, it's very secure. They have shared rooms and private rooms, though they didn't have a private room available right now, these things change constantly. The facility itself is just gorgeous, it's just beautifully done and incredibly clean and it's a very nice facility. It's a bit expensive but just nice. The food, their activities calendar are crazy, they've got so much stuff going on. I think part of that is because they also do assisted living, so they keep these folks busy if they want to be busy, which is great. In the memory care unit, they do a lot of stuff specific to that group of people, just to keep their hands busy. They do paintings and they bring in petting zoos and stuff. It's quite well done and very impressive. Their menu is very diverse, and they accommodate any needs that you may have. They do the whole food and snacks thing, and their common areas are very nice, their dining area was very nice, and easy access to the way the building is set up. The rooms are kind of all-around and all of the common areas are in the center, which is kind of neat. And the elevators are behind closed doors, so no one's near an elevator, that's very secure. It was impressive. The staff knows what they're doing.

Sunrise of Henderson is very good. They have wanderers going into my mom's room, but not as many as the other place's memory care. The staff is very good. They're excellent. It's very good value for the money. They have board games and sing-alongs. My mom had a physical therapist come in twice a week. The food is not that great. They would always give my mom sugary drinks, things like Tang or lemonade premix; we just wanted her to have water. Even though she was on a cardiac diet, they said all the diets are the same. They didn't really limit anything, except for the salt.

Mom was a resident in Memory care for 2.5 years. It is in a nice neighborhood, convenient location, it was close to a park that we would walk my mom over to weekly.
First year was good, then it slowly started getting bad until we were forced to move her. We noticed mom's hair was messy, she was stinky like she hadnt been showered, teeth and breath were bad - seemed like teeth werent being brushed, constant issues with unkempt clothing, missing socks, general hygiene not maintained.
When she started she was able to go to the bathroom on her own, just needed prompts to the bathroom. She had a few accidents and instead of regularly taking her to the bathroom they threw diapers on her and forced her incontinence. We had multiple meetings and discussions and still had issues.
We would show up and staff would be sitting watching TV or just hanging in the kitchen. Very rarely would see activities going on. There were some really great staff, Maria, for instance. But most staff were unmotivated to put the love and care in that is necessary for these seniors with memory care issues.
They also weren't aware where mom was half the time. We would call or show up and it took 15+ minutes to find her. She would be wandering in someone else's room, or one time she was in the community bathroom with another resident and had gotten completely soaked.
Then we would get calls about bruises/cuts on moms arm. Found out other residents were bullying mom. They blamed mom. Wanted to drug her up; when we refused, they told us they needed to charge us much more to provide for her safety. We ended up moving mom to a smaller facility.

Sunrise of Henderson was beautiful, and it's one of the best ones. Although in terms of pricing they couldn't give you a set price, so you really don't know what the price is going to be every month. The rooms were nice. They also had double rooms but the double rooms did not have a dividing wall which I didn't like, it was more like a hospital double room. They said you could put something in-between them, but there was nothing. The amenities was excellent, they have everything you could need. They had all the games and they had a full schedule of things the residents could do every if they want to do it. They don't just sit around, they keep them busy and out of the rooms. The atmosphere of the place is great and the staff members were good.
