Our pet-friendly assisted and independent living community is conveniently located in the historic section of Clara Barton in Edison, NJ. The community is situated in a school building that was constructed in 1921 and was beautifully renovated to include 84 spacious assisted living apartments and 27 independent living apartments.

Heritage of Clara Barton offers a warm, home-like atmosphere where residents live among friends and neighbors. Seniors will have around-the-clock support and the assistance needed to feel inspired and encouraged to practice independence at their pace.

We promote family time and encourage the family members of our residents to stay in close communication with their loved ones, to send mail, and to visit often. It means so much to the residents. We also make a point to stay in good communication with families and update them with any necessary information.

Heritage of Clara Barton was a really nice facility. They actually have a mental care unit, which I was looking for because my uncle has severe dementia. The facility was really a beautiful place. The staff was nice. If I get the chance, I would really rather have him there. It was a fit. I like the knowledge that the staff had. Knowing that they serve the meals, give the medication, and that everything is provided, it just gives you a sense of security that your loved one will be taken care of as you would. I also liked the rooms. You do get a chance that the patient will be able to have a personal room. In a way, they can still feel like they're at home and feel independent. It doesn't feel like a facility at all. I know that they have a movie theater, and they take them out on activities for the day. I only interacted with the coordinator. She was friendly and informative. She gave me a lot of information, which was helpful for me to make my decision.

Heritage of Clara Barton was very clean and passed the smell test. Everybody looked happy. The staff during the tour was extremely passionate and engaged about her work. The residents were just enjoying time among themselves. They were talking and interacting. It was very comforting. However, as I walked around it, the overall environment was average. Unfortunately, you can't uproot where they're located. The area they're in was not great.
