I liked Allegria at the Fountains, and the cost was better than the place I chose, but it was at least a 40-minute drive from me. It was a continuing-care where you have assisted living, memory care, and like a skilled nursing facility. The rooms were very small, but they had an activity director that was always in the activity room. So when anyone came in, there was somebody there to do some sort of activity with them along with scheduled activities. The staff that I met was very, very nice and seemed to know all the family, and knew all the patients. As memory care, they didn't make their residents wear masks, instead all of this staff wear masks, and when I went to visit, they did a rapid covid test on me, which was negative. So I liked that because to get people with dementia to put on the mask and keep it on, it's almost impossible. So I did like how that was handled, like they understood dementia. The layout was nice, and they had a very nice activity calendar as well.

Do NOT send your loved one to memory care! The director of assisted living is beyond unprofessional!! She suggested that it is too bad my mom is not further along in her disease (Dementia) because she would not be trying to get out of their “secure” facility. They are NOT secure! All they need to do is press on the exit door for 10 seconds and your loved one is in the woods or on a main highway! Worse yet, they take no responsibility, instead the director says my mom’s Dementia is a behavior problem that they won’t deal with!! The ER is their option for dealing with her exit seeking behavior. We have been there for 30 days and she has been sent to the ER and we have been threatened that this will continue if we do not provide 1:1 care. This seems to be their only remedy for typical Dementia/memory issues. They have continuously said throughout this past month that we need to recognize my mom is not safe in their “secure” memory floor and yet they advertise as such. If they can not be held accountable, they my only hope is that we can save another family from this horror!
