My husband is now at Addington Place of Shoal Creek. He has been there for five months now. The thing that I like most about them is that the employees are all very caring and very nurturing. They make sure that they're happy, that they're clean, and they're taking care of us. I like the facility because it's in the memory care and everybody's rooms, when they come out of the room, they go right into either the dining room or their little television room, so they don't have to wonder which direction to go in. The rooms are all private rooms. They have a half divider right in the middle of the room so that they have a little area to sit, watch television, read, or whatever, and then the other area is where he sleeps. He has a bed, and he sleeps there, and it's right next to the bathroom so he can get up and go or get a shower. They have laminate flooring so that they won't stumble or fall. They don't have a lot of amenities or activities for them. The assisted living had exercises and bingo and those sorts of things, but the people in memory care don't care for bingo. They have lots of videos so they can watch those. The employees will come and sit with them and talk to them and do that sort of thing. They cook breakfast there, but lunch and supper are catered from the local grocery store. They don't have as many activities, but they're so kind, and they do the laundry and everything else for them. They're just kind people, and that's important. For the most part, the food is pretty good. I have tried their food.

My parents-in-law moved in, and it's been great. The room is great. It has a place for their bed right next to the bathroom. There's also a little sitting area; we brought some of their furniture from home to make it look more like their home. It's new and clean, the staff is mostly wonderful, and they really care about the elderly. It's kind of too early to tell how the food is, as they've only had a few meals there and they tend to gripe about everything. So I don't know if it's the actual food, but they do have choices that I've been trying to explain to them. If they don't like one thing, they can ask for something else, whereas in a lot of places you're stuck with whatever they're serving. There's a courtyard so they can go outside, and there are all kinds of activities. I know they have bingo, but I don't know if they have participated in that yet.

I appreciate the staff at Addington in LIberty. It has been really hard not to see my sister, but with people like Paula I know she is being taken care of. Paula has always been friendly and made my sister feel at home. She knows how to redirect my sister when she is getting agitated and smooth things over. I know it is a tough job but she does this with a smile. Thank you Paula for being a consistent face for us. :)

My mom with dementia has been here for 2 years. She has received excellent care, good meals, activity options, etc.... The caregivers dote on her when she comes back from hair appointments. She is encouraged to participate, whether she chooses to do so or not. Very loving environment!
