I toured Cedarhurst of Columbia. It looked nice. The people were friendly. The person that walked me around seemed to know the residents by name, and they responded to her nicely and wanted to talk with her more. People seemed happy. It seemed like a homey place. The residents in the memory care unit had access to an outdoor seating area that they could come and go to, but it was locked up and they couldn't wander off, and that is a big plus because my dad likes to be outside. They had access to outside, and where he's at right now, he is on the third floor, he doesn't get to go outside very much. I saw people watching TV and people talking, mainly people talking with a drink in their hands and looking outside. They said they have a gardening club, a Bible study, and a walking group. I looked and asked questions about those things but didn't observe them. Their rooms don't seem that special. They seemed clean and nice. They seemed fine, and you have to provide your own furniture. I like the staff. They were a little late for the meeting that we had scheduled, but they gave me time to walk around and pick up paperwork like their activity schedule and look at their menu. I want Dad to go there.

We have chosen Cedarhurst of Columbia for my mom. I've had a wonderful tour. It was excellent. The facility is fairly small. The care ratio of the staff to client is nice. It was clean and attractive. It looked like the staff was caring, and someplace I think my mom would be happy. We saw a sample room and one of their studios. It wasn't overly large, but it wasn't overly small. It would accommodate a bed, a chair, and a TV. The staff that we worked with was an absolute gem.

They had very bad management at Cedarhurst of Columbia. The rooms were nice, but the people were not managed well. They had very poor communication. They wanted a deposit, but it took them forever to do their assessment, and we had to keep calling them. The building itself was fine.
