The staff at Glen Abby are top notch! I love it when the staff greet you. They do not unfortunately state their name so it leaves an feeling of being impersonal. The name badges are not easily able to read. It would be helpful to know who is who at the facility to help get information to or from the right person. A monthly newsletter available at the reception area with pictures of staff and their support role at Glen Abby be helpful. The rooms are keep relatively clean and fresh. There are times however when meals are brought to the room (which is not my stated preference but still occurs—) crumbs and food particles litter the carpet which cause problems with remaining sanitary and safe. Interactions with the staff are positive as they are very willing to be helpful no matter what the cause and very caring to the residents. Although I have also infrequently witnessed staff being non communicative, short with others, distracted by their cell phones, or not being very polite. Everyone can have a bad day so I give more than one chance to prove my first impression wrong and have not to go that route—which is a good thing! Bingo is a big hit but it’s unclear to me if memory residents get the opportunity to have it in their area. Because they have more of a need for assistance (and family can help) it would be nice to see this offered in their are for a small group occasionally. The same with movie night. They are asked to attend the music events which is great when they take the opportunity to be taken to enjoy the activity. Glen Abby was very accommodating when several family members wanted to gather to celebrate mom’s birthday. We were able to gather in an activity room and bring in decorations, cake, ice cream, etc. the kitchen staff checked on us to be sure all was going well. Our family reviewed several memory care facilities. We feel the Glen Abby floor plan/layout is great for observation of the residents in memory care, is peaceful, permits resident privacy, and allows for resident socialization in common areas. Administrative staff are available and give notice by email if they want to communicate about vacations or change in staff when someone leaves, when group vaccinations are planned for Covid or flu, when vision or dental care onsite visits are being planned. The availability of Doctors Without Doors for times when there are concerns is GREAT! We have appreciated their help on several occasions to get the help needed and for follow up care.

My Mom was in memory care for approximately three years. The management and staff were very caring and took amazing care of my Mom. The facility is relatively new and kept very clean.

Glen Abbey Assisted Living & Memory Care was wonderful. It was all open and the residents were having dinner at the time we went by. There was a nurse that took us around and she was very knowledgeable. They were a little short-staffed because it was the holidays, but she did a good job showing us around. We saw the memory care wing and the different rooms they had. They had single ones and ones where a couple could stay. They were appropriate, nice, and clean. They had full-service dinners (three meals a day), activities for the memory care, and then activities for the rest of the residents. They had them scheduled on a list and then visitors could come in and out. As they signed in, the doors were locked. So, there was also good security.
