My wife has moved into Woodhaven Retirement Community. She had been going into the daycare they have for seniors during the day, so she was already familiar with them. They have all kinds of programs. She has dementia, and they have a dementia program there. They seem to have caring people. They have hair care folks that do hair, nails, and all that stuff. They also have doctors and nurses on staff. Each group of people have their own dining room for different levels. The dementia people don't eat with the daycare people. They all have their own special dining room. The food looked like regular food. I think they are flawed on changing her clothes and all that. Some of the staff really care and some of them don't. One of the things that attracted me to choose them is that there is no smell or odor. They do a lot of things (if they can get them to participate), like playing games and exercise. They have a lot of walking areas, where you could do walking and stuff like that. All of these places are expensive.

My dad moved into Woodhaven Retirement Community. So far, things are working out very well. The community itself is lovely. The staff members are wonderful, well-trained, happy in their jobs, kind, caring, and patient with the residents. I'm just very impressed. The dining area was very lovely. They have regular dishes, and their food is brought to them. They ensure that the residents like what they're eating and that the food smells great. My dad's room is very nice. He's got a lovely view of a courtyard. He has a private room with a private bath, and it's just the right size. They have group activities, and even if the resident doesn't participate in the activities, they encourage them to be there and be with the other people. My father has dementia and doesn't take part in much, but he seems to enjoy being with the other residents.

Woodhaven Retirement Community was beautiful. It was gorgeous and the rooms were spotless. We checked out the memory care and we liked that fact that they are overstaffed (based on state minimum). On our tour, all the staff were working with residents. They weren't sitting on their cell phones and ignoring people like the other two facilities did. So, we think that my father is going to get much better care there. The staff was friendly and caring. Everything in the facility was updated and clean.
