Ross Manor is very old and outdated. The environment wasn't homey. The staff were helpful. I didn't see many people around. There were two females in what they call their living room and their dining area. There was only two of them. I didn't see any cleaning staff around, although the place appeared to be clean. It's just it's a very old and dated building. I wasn't there during the hours that they served meals. The dining area looked like a cafeteria, and it was out in the middle of a huge room. The chairs didn't look comfortable. There was older looking tablecloth (not cloth, but vinyl) on the tables. They were confusing patterns. I think it was like a checkerboard or something else. For someone with dementia, that's confusing to look at something like that. The rooms were very plain and basic. The only one that I saw was a semi-private, and the furnishings in that room were very old. There were no screens for privacy between the two beds. The windows are small in size, so that the patient couldn't really sit in a rocker and view the outside. I found that very confining. They schedule the showers for the patients. If an R.N. was needed, they have someone in the other wing that they can bring over. Laundry is done there. My overall impression wasn't great for the environment. It's clean, but it's just old. Everything just appeared to be really old, used, and very little comfort. It's not a homey situation. It just doesn't feel like home.
