I've toured Brookdale Olney, it's beautiful. I didn't think it needed to be, but they're redoing the carpets, the chairs, the tables, and everything. They showed me the colors that they were going to use and the fabrics and everything, so I was impressed. The room that I saw was big enough. I went and looked at two, I saw a companion suite with one occupant and it looked big enough for everything that my husband would want. They share one bathroom. I was impressed with everyone that was there, James was extremely full of information and very personable. When we stepped off the memory care floor, there was the psychiatrist and personal care nurse who did the evaluation. So I spoke with them for a while too, and I got very interesting information, so that was good. They had just finished eating, and the staff showed me the dining area for both memory care and assisted living. They had a separate dining area for memory care up on the top floor. They had tables and chairs, it was a little cafeteria-style place, and they had a person that serves the food. The menu looks reasonable, they said they have three or four snacks a day and they could get something to eat any time during the day, so that was nice. They also said that he could keep a refrigerator and a microwave in his room.

Brookdale Olney was in business for a while. More than ten years, I believe, but they were not that helpful. They just simply didn't know enough. One of them was very salesy. The grounds were great though. They were in the process of giving the facility an update. The assisted living part was just absolutely fabulous, but when we went up to the memory care unit, it smelled like urine.

We visited Brookdale Olney and it was very good. I had already visited another one that I liked better than this, but they gave a very nice tour, and the lady was very nice. I spoke to the PT people there and a nurse besides the lady giving us the tour. It was very well done. The lady showed us everything and answered all our questions. The rooms were very nice. She showed us a studio and a one-bedroom, and both were very nice. My mom would need something like that.
