We like Arcadia of Denton II very much, but at this time, they don't have an opening. I like that it was homey. It seemed more like a home atmosphere than an institution. The staff was friendly. I like that they had big lounge chairs around, and everybody seemed content. It's small. There are not a thousand people there. It's just a small group. It had a lot of nice features. The staff who toured me was very nice. Everybody seemed comfortable there. There's no place for like physical therapy, but they have an outside garden, they have what they call a salon area, and they have a place where they could wash your hair and stuff. It was nice and very clean.

My husband was in Arcadia of Denton II before he passed away. The facility was very nice. Everything about the facility was good. The staff was kind. I don't know how well-trained they were. They were supposed to have activities, I never saw that. I don't know if they didn't have enough staff for that. The issue that had a lot to do with my husband's death was that he had dementia, and he was suddenly exhibiting worse symptoms, and they saw it was just dementia. But turns out we didn't find this out until after he had left, by ambulance. He was severely dehydrated and had a bad urinary tract infection, which is probably why his behavior had changed. Unfortunately, and I don't think this is just true of Arcadia, but people with dementia, everything else that happens to them, the caregivers chalk it up to dementia. They didn't look to see if there was anything else going on. And then his urinary tract infection got so bad it affected his kidneys. And it started a whole downward spiral that ultimately led to his death. It wasn't just Arcadia. It was even the local hospital. He didn't get the care that someone younger and in better shape would have gotten, and that's just the way society is with elderly people, especially when they have dementia. It was a new facility. It was a comfortable room. They need to have more activity. They need to pay attention to the physical health of the people that are there, and not go for the easy answer.

My father will be moving into Arcadia of Denton II. The location can't be beat. It's about ten minutes from their house. His wife would be able to go and visit anytime. Just overall the facility was very nice. The staff who showed us around was just amazing. My father's wife seemed much more comfortable with the idea of admitting him to a long-term care facility after seeing that facility. It was overall a very good visit. There was really nothing that we saw that we didn't like. They showed us a small single room. One of the other nice things is there's a bathroom right across the hall from that room. There's a bathroom next door to that room with a shower, and there's another huge bathroom right at the end of the hall, which includes a shampoo station. Apparently, a lady comes in once a week to get everybody a shampoo if they need one. They had a nice little courtyard in the back with a green area and some seating. Also, the place seemed very secure and quiet. The menus looked fine. The facility was split into a couple different buildings.
