Sunrise of Metairie has a whole floor dedicated to memory patients, dementia, and stuff like that. It was nice. They had a whole third floor or whatever, which you need a code to get up the elevator to get to it or to get down. There was a whole section with the dining room and different rooms, it was nice. Everybody there was friendly, from entering to leaving. They were sitting down, playing a kind of volleyball, but it was with a balloon and some pool noodles. They all seemed like they were enjoying it. The rooms were nice. We saw the studio room, which is all we would need. It was equipped with a refrigerator, so it looked like it would have everything he needed. It was very clean. They were cleaning, and it looks like they do it all day long. They have on the third floor, it's like an outside area that they can go, sit on and stuff.

I did a tour of Sunrise of Metairie; I liked it a lot, but it was so expensive. I would have considered it because it was closer to my house, although it is kind of landlocked. After all, it's in a highly-populated area of the county. The convenience for me would have been better, but it was so much more expensive that I couldn't justify it. It was nice, and it looked like it was good. It was very well-run, felt very homey, and yet very well cared for. The people that I met were very professional. It was very much like a house on the inside. The staff called me and asked if I could tell him the numbers, money-wise because I told him I was probably going to go with another facility. So, I gave him the numbers that I got, because he said he would try to compete if he could, but he couldn't compete; it's just expensive. I would have gone there, that would have been the one I could have picked.

Sunrise of Metairie was very nice. The staff was very nice. My concern was I'm African-American, and there were no African-American residents there. There were two staff that were black and they said they treat them very well, pay them very well, and like what they do. One of them had been there for 15 years and the other lady for 10 years, and that spoke lot to me that they were still there with Sunrise. They said they don't have a lot of black residents because it's very expensive, but if they have them, they treat them no differently than anyone else. The staff was very informative and answered all the questions.

This place is the worst. My mother broke her collar bone, ankle, 4 ribs in the year that she was there. She is now in a facility that she is well taken care of. At Sunrise it is all about the money. Staff is not qualified and it is greatly overpriced.
