I liked the management at Park West Plaza, but I don't think it would be good for memory care. Overall, I thought it was a very nice place. It just wasn't a place for us. The staff was very nice. I did not try the food. I did a quick visit. We went in, talked to a guy named John, and he was very helpful and very knowledgeable. They had a salon and stuff like that. It seemed like they had a lot of amenities. I didn't have a problem with the upkeep and cleanliness of it. It's in a residential kind of neighborhood on a busy street. I wouldn't say there are hospitals or restaurants or any of that close by.

The room that Park West Plaza had available was small off the kitchen, and it didn't have a bathroom attached. You would have to use the communal bathroom and I didn't care for that part of it, but everybody there was very friendly. It was clean and the residents seemed like they were well cared for. John was very good. He informed us of a lot of things that we didn't think of. He was very polite, courteous, very friendly, and made us feel very at ease. He said that even if we didn't stay there, if we had any questions, we could always call him back and he would refer us to other facilities. So I really enjoyed that. The facility was very well cleaned on the outside. Everything looked like it was kept up. I was very impressed with it. In the memory care part, they eat as a family. They had a dining room table right here. We saw residents that were playing games, some were watching TV by the fireplace, while others had families visiting them. It's just a little pricey for my mom, and once she would run out of her funds, Park West Plaza did not have something where she could stay on and transfer over to Medicaid, and that really was the only bad part about it.

Park West Plaza looked well staffed, and the staff seemed very nice. It was smaller than the other place we saw, which was nice. Everybody I met was very friendly and welcoming. The facility was older, but it seemed clean. I didn't see the activities, but they said they had them based on their interests and ages. They had a nice outside area, too. The room was fine, just old, but the size was great.

We chose to move my wife to Park West Plaza. The reason I chose them was that it is such a small group home; there are a total of five residents. There's room for a sixth and all of the other ones. When I toured other places, the memory care patients and the assisted living residents were all together and I was afraid that much of a crowd would just be too overwhelming for her. So this small group environment is just perfect. Her room there is great, it's spacious. We have no complaints at all. It's a converted former residence, so the kitchen and dining room are probably what was original to the home. And it's a very homey experience. Their entire day, in a way almost reminds me of boot camp, because there's something scheduled almost every hour. From 7:00 AM they wake up, to 9:30 and 10:00 for bedtime. There's an unlimited abundance of activities. They keep them engaged all the time so that they're not distracted and feel sorry for themselves. The staff is excellent, professional, courteous, and caring. The price is on par with all of the other facilities that I toured.

The rooms at Park West Plaza were huge. They were a small community, which is good because the people would get more one-on-one interaction. But we were concerned that they're being so small, they won't have enough activities. But they only have about 6 people, so what can you do. We didn't see anything there except for people sitting around watching TV. The staff who accommodated me was very nice and helpful. The dining area is just like a dining room in a house.
