Glen Carr House Memory Care is set up to be more like family-style. It has just 14 people in each building instead of a bunch of people in there. There are four buildings. They have activities, and each building has different activities. They hold church services. They have barbecues and picnics outside. When it's nice for the holidays, we can go and have the holiday with them out on the patios. There's one staff member for every seven residents. Another thing I liked about it is that if my mom makes friends with somebody in another building and an opening comes up in that building, she can move to a different building to be with her friend.
They have bingo, crafts, and story time where they're read to. There's like a long breakfast bar that sits in front of it, so they could talk to the people they're cooking for. If they don't like what they're serving, they can make them an alternative meal. The majority of the rooms are single. You can bring in up to a double-size bed. There's no closet. The bathroom is big, and there's no step to the shower. The staff members are pretty nice. You have a key code to get in, and you can't leave without the key code to get out.
