I liked everything about The Wellington at Southport. The rooms were nice. The area is secured. Everybody's friendly, but they have no rooms right now. The rooms were clean and nicely organized. Everything looked good. I looked at the memory ward and it was separate from the others. The staff during the tour was very good, and answered all of our questions. She even came up with stuff I didn't even think about. She was very helpful. Everything was clean, well organized, and nicely laid out. They had a courtyard, a barbershop, laundry services, they have their own physical therapy there, and they have therapy animals come in.

The Wellington at Southport is probably great for higher or worse levels of dementia, but for my dad it's kind of limited. The staff members were great, personable, and caring. It was a quick visit, and there wasn't even an appointment set at all, but I thought the facility looked good. It was clean and renovated, too. The room that I got to see was a small studio because they only have those available. To me, the room was small, and the view was uninteresting. They have a courtyard and a barbershop, but I don't know if they do that for memory care.

The Wellington at Southport was not updated, and it was kind of depressing, but the room that we saw appeared to be OK. We really just interacted with the sales person. She was friendly and knowledgeable. The person from the memory care unit was not there yesterday, but she didn't know everything there was to know about the services. One thing that I was disappointed in was we were told before we went there about the pricing for the units, but when we talked with her, yes that was the pricing for the apartment, but then the care added to that was really quite expensive. The room and board are included, and then depending on the level of care, that's how much extra you have to pay for any assistance that they would get, like housekeeping, laundry, and incontinence care, so all of that more than doubled the price.
