My mom moved to The Renaissance. It’s been fabulous. The staff has been great, no complaints whatsoever. The place is new, her building is brand new, really beautiful, with very warm and inviting feeling. Her room is very nice. It’s smaller than what I would have hoped for, but I understand that’s pretty standard for memory care. She has Alzheimer’s, so I can see the benefit of a smaller room for her. She just needs assistance with meals and medication at this point. She still bathes and dresses herself. The dining area is also very nice and the food is fabulous. I ate dinner with mom and my brother ate lunch with her. It’s more of a family style where they will make something special for someone if there’s something on the menu they don’t like. Otherwise, they have a menu in advanced and like in a restaurant, they serve what’s on the menu. I thought it’s healthy, well-rounded meals, which I don’t think mom’s getting when she was living at home. That was one of the reasons why we moved her as we knew she would eat better. I’ve interacted with a lot of staff members over the course of months and they’ve all been fabulous.I took one of my daughters there last night and she said, ‘wow grandma moved to a castle’. On mom’s first day, and she was already involved in activities. They had a birthday party for someone, so that was great. In touring some other facilities, I think we got more for less money than I had expected, so I’m very pleased.
