We went to Park Place Assisted Living. It's generally kind of dingy, the roof ceilings were low and my wife didn't like that area at all. The people were friendly and nice, but we just didn't like the facilities. I think it was an older institution, so it goes back some 20 years or so, maybe even 30 years, and so it needed some upgrading. We did see the dining area, but we didn't try the food. The dining area looked okay and similar to other places we looked at. It looked like they had games and things of that nature to keep people busy. They had a grand piano in the front area, which was fairly spacious, so anyone could play it. I guess they loved to do that. My wife is a music teacher, and piano teacher, so that kind of sparked her interest. The memory care was OK, but not particularly outstanding as far as I can see.

We looked into Park Place. It's close; it's in our hometown where my parents still live. The response of the staff was excellent. They were very prompt in returning calls and setting things up. Because of COVID, they weren't letting people see it, but they made a special provision for us to be able to go see it. The price was good, and the rooms were huge compared to the other places we visited. We just felt like my dad is going to get good care and is going to be comfortable there. It's an older building, but they have kept it up really nicely. The one that we're going to be moving my dad into is a studio with a bathroom, and it has new carpet. The rooms are very large, they're private rooms, and are not shared rooms. They have big closets, too. They have activities, they have three meals a day, they do laundry, they supply sheets and towels, and they have an in-house medical doctor who comes in once a week and is on call as needed, which is really nice. They also have a really nice central area where they'll have carnivals and dances. They have sitting areas, and they have libraries -- one in memory care and one in the main assisted living. Also, there is a big activity room where there are a bunch of puzzles. It is very large, but the memory care is quite small and pretty average, with fourteen residents.
