My parents started in the assisted living of The Phoenix at Lake Lanier, but that did not work out, so they're now in the memory care area. I think the community is wonderful. It's aesthetically beautiful, and the staff is very caring. Even though I'm still constantly there a lot for them because they're still having a hard time transitioning, the staff not only takes care of them, they even asked me, "Are you OK? Is there anything that could get you?" So, I like the fact that they recognize that it's hard on us and they're being genuine. Their room is small for them compared to the house that they came from, but my husband and I worked very hard bringing things of theirs into the room like we brought some of their furniture and that kind of thing. Any time there may have been an issue or there was something I brought up, they immediately took care of it. The building is clean, very well kept up, the lawn is taken care of.

The Phoenix at Lake Lanier was gorgeous. The staff was very nice, it was a very large facility, they have a lot of assisted living there, beautiful grounds, they have the ability to visit with their family inside, outside, and it was very hospitable. They had a large activity room, I met their activity director, plus some of the individuals that worked in the memory care. All through that facility it was very clean, people were very nice, I watched their interactions with the residents, and they were all very comfortable together. They were feeding them dinner because that was after work when I went by. Most of the residents were sitting in the dining room, the residents seemed to be enjoying the food, and it smelled good. It just wasn't right for our family at this time, but it would be perfect for someone that is not as late stage as my mom is in a hospice situation.
